MiEnergy Cooperative is offering a new $1,000 scholarship for local high school seniors pursuing a career as an electrical lineworker. The Next Generation Lineworker Scholarship is funded by MiEnergy’s wholesale power supplier, Dairyland Power Cooperative, to support the next generation of skilled energy workers.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a graduating high school senior
  • Must be pursuing post-secondary education or training as an electrical lineworker
  • Parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must be members of MiEnergy Cooperative whose principal residence is at their active account address
  • Children of MiEnergy employees and directors are not eligible

Application Requirements:

  • Completed application
  • Proof of acceptance to a lineworker program
  • One letter of recommendation from a non-relative who can speak to the student’s character and career fit
  • Short essay (500 words or less) explaining why the student is pursuing a career as a lineworker and how they plan to achieve that goal. Essays found to be AI-generated will be disqualified.

Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution attended by the scholarship winner upon receiving a grade transcript or other notice of adequate completion of the fall semester and enrollment for the spring semester.  Funds not claimed by April 1, 2027 will be forfeited.

Option 1: Apply via the webform. You will enter your information into the application webform and upload PDF copies of your essay, letter of recommendation and proof of acceptance.

Option 2: Apply via a paper application. Complete the fillable pdf on your computer or download and complete it by hand. You can then mail the application, essay, letter of recommendation and proof of acceptance to the address below, upload the application, essay, letter of recommendation and proof of acceptance via this page or email it to ahoiland@MiEnergy.coop.

If you submit your application electronically, you will receive a confirmation email. No matter how you submit your application, it is due in the MiEnergy office by 8 a.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026.
