Electric Vehicle Charging

Charge your vehicle at home

Special rate for electric vehicles

MiEnergy Cooperative is pleased to announce a voluntary option for charging your electric vehicle at home. It is based on a time-of-use rate, which is designed for maximum flexibility and a way for you and the cooperative to save money on the energy bill. Energy costs vary widely based on the time of day, day of the week and season of the year. If you can charge your electric vehicle during off- peak hours, there is potential to save money. This special rate is geared toward drivers using a 240-volt charger.

The rate is available for separately metered electric vehicle receptacles used in conjunction with the city service, suburban and rural. Service is limited to electric vehicles that are SAE J1772 compliant, registered and operable on public highways in the States of Iowa and Minnesota. Low-speed electric vehicles including golf carts are ineligible to take service under this rate even if licensed to operate on public streets. Subject to established extension and service rules of the cooperative.

If you are building a new home or remodeling your garage, now is the time to consider wiring for an EV charger. MiEnergy has rebates available. Get incentive information here.

If you currently own an electric vehicle or might be looking to buy one, call the cooperative with any questions you have regarding the charging program.
